Swapadda works because we look out for each other. These rules keep the community safe, kind and trustworthy.
Swap honestly
List real items in real condition. Photos matter.
Price fairly
Cash deals are between adults. No bait-and-switch.
Bless freely
Blessings are gifts — never demand or resell them.
Using Swapadda — the basics
- One account per person. Use your real name where possible.
- Communicate inside Swapadda chat — it protects both sides.
- Meet in public places for in-person swaps. Bring a friend for high-value items.
- Check the item before completing the deal. Once handed over, swaps are final.
- Rate the other user honestly after the deal — it builds community trust.
- Report suspicious users, scams or unsafe items via the listing page.
Prohibited items
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives.
- Drugs, tobacco, alcohol, vapes, prescription medicines.
- Live animals, bushmeat, ivory, protected species.
- Counterfeit goods, replica currency, fake documents.
- Stolen property or items without clear ownership.
- Adult content, escort or sexual services.
- Hate symbols and content promoting violence or discrimination.
- Personal data, exam papers, government IDs.
Blessings — a gentle code
- Givers: gift in good faith, no hidden charges, choose a claimer that truly needs it.
- Claimers: don't request a Blessing you don't need, and never resell it.
- Be respectful in chat — a kind word goes a long way.
Category-specific rules
Read the rules for your category before you list.
📱 Electronics
- Show actual photos, including any damage, scratches or dents.
- State working condition, accessories included (charger, box) and battery health if applicable.
- No stolen, IMEI-locked, iCloud-locked or carrier-locked devices.
- Wipe all personal data and remove SIM/memory cards before handover.
👕 Fashion
- Mention size, brand, material and any wear, stains or alterations.
- Wash/clean items before listing or shipping.
- No counterfeit or replica branded goods.
- Innerwear and swimwear must be unworn or labelled clearly.
📚 Books
- Disclose highlights, notes, missing pages or water damage.
- Pirated photocopies are not allowed.
- For textbooks, mention edition, year and curriculum.
🛋️ Home & Furniture
- Specify dimensions, material and pickup vs delivery.
- Disclose stains, structural issues, pests or odours.
- Large items: agree on transport and lifting before swap.
🧸 Kids & Baby
- No used pacifiers, used bottle nipples, used breast pumps or recalled products.
- Sanitise toys, strollers and car seats. Mention recall status for car seats.
- Mention age range and any safety standards (BIS / ISI / EN).
🚴 Sports & Outdoors
- Helmets, pads and protective gear should not be sold/swapped after a major impact — mention history.
- Bicycles: include serial number; no bikes without proof of ownership.
- Mention size, weight class and any wear on grips, soles or strings.
🎸 Music & Instruments
- Mention strings/heads/keys condition; include audio clip if possible.
- Acoustic vs electric, accessories (case, cable, pedal) included or not.
- Pirated software/plugins are not allowed.
🚗 Vehicles
- Only list vehicles you legally own — RC, insurance and PUC must be transferable.
- Disclose accident history, kilometres driven, service history and any loan / hypothecation.
- Buyer/swapper is responsible for RTO transfer; complete it within 14 days.
- No vehicles without valid registration or with tampered chassis/engine numbers.
🛠️ Services
- Be clear about scope, duration, deliverables and cancellation terms.
- No regulated services (medical, legal, financial advice) without proper credentials.
- Adult, dating or escort services are strictly prohibited.
🎁 Other
- Use the most accurate category you can — generic listings get less reach.
- Describe the item fully: what it is, why you're listing it, and what you'd accept.
